Bend but don't break: I doubt if the pin has been broken, just pushed into some new tissue. At four weeks time the pin can become loose and some times pistons in or out without bumping it. If there is no angular change in the toe and the pain is subsiding, then you are probably fine. To remove all doubt, call your surgeon and see what he wants to do.

Follow up..: This is a common occurrence in many patients. Typically the surgical site is unaffected when the pins move. Definitely get a follow up xray with your surgeon since you are having pain and increased pressure. Take care and best wishes!
