Finger pain: If there is no known injury like sprain or contusion, finger pain may be due to arthritis especially if the discomfort is localized to the joint itself. Infection would be accompanied by redness, tenderness and often swelling. If taking an anti-inflammatory like Advil or Aleve (naproxen) doesn't help, have a physician examine your finger.
