Ear pain: Sinus rinse/washes are beneficial in the management of chronic or acute sinus infection/inflammation and congestion. Rarely, in patients with Eustachian tube dysfunction and/or overly aggressive sinus wash, temporary ear pain may be experienced. If symptoms persist beyond 1-2 weeks, see your doctor to determine if ENT evaluation would be beneficial

Don't use saline bed: best to do saline irrigation in a.m. whrn body upright. you likely got some residual saltwater up your eustachian tube while recumbent and it can sting, especially if hypertonic. i recommend sinus rinse kit over netti pot and not irrigating before laying down.
