Fluid: This may be due to fluid behind your eardrum that accumulated when you had a viral infection. When the fluid moves, it can sound like a crackling. This can persist for a while even after a cold goes away. If it gets worse or if you have another other symptoms, though, you should see your doctor to get your ear checked.
