If you mean the: contraceptive coil Mirena, (levonorgestrel) it contains a hormone in the progesterone family. This hormone can delay periods and/or cause irregular periods in the first few months. Some women eventually have no periods at all. Unless you have severe pain or heavy prolonged bleeding, it's nothing to be concerned about.
