Itching: Itching of the anus is not unusual but may be caused by a dermatitis from overexuberant wiping with toilet paper, sensitivities to soaps, tight underwear and jeans. The more you scratch, the itchier it gets. Applying occasional cortisone type ointment helps. Dry skin from excessive heat on during the winter dries out the skin and causes itchiness elsewhere.
