A member asked:

If someone was on microgestin fe 1/20 birth control what would it show for their hormone levels on blood test compared to girl not on birth control?

No significant diff: The birth control maintains a steady levels of estrogen and progesterone. A woman without birth control can have slightly higher or lower levels depending on what part of the menstrual cycle she is on. Best wishes Dr M

Reflects the pill: When on birth control pills her ovaries are “turned off.” The birth control pill is in charge of hormone production. It is not useful to check the estrogen and progesterone levels of a woman on the pill as this test would not accurately reflect useful information. It would reflect birth control pill use.
