A member asked:

Is it at all possible to be born without vocal chords? i am writing a book and no research is yielding any results. it is physical, not psycological .

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I suppose anything: is possible. People are born with 1 lung, without a stomach, with fused hip joints and with everything in your chest reversed from left to right. So it is possible to be born without vocal cords, though I don't have any knowledge of whether that will be viable. I suppose you can live without vocal cords, but not without the epiglottis.
