Yes: How long depends on if it is XR or regular effector. The Regular Has Half Life Of About 16 Hrs Which Means It Will Stay In Your System For About 5 Days And Probably Still Have Some Effect For Even Longer. XR will last 2-3 weeks. Not sure why you are switching but in case your doc didn't explain effexor (venlafaxine) is SNRI (increases norepinephrine and serotonin) Celexa is SSRI (serotonin only)
