Any: cyst or growth should be examined. If you are having pain or tenderness in the area then it should be addressed soon. Nail fungus doesn't always need a culture. Most Podiatrists can typically tell right away if a patient has fungus or not. It is a good idea to get a culture if the patient is put on prescription medications. There are many natural treatments I recommend that can help!

What's normal...: Office visits shouldn't be that stressful. You have a cyst and would like it evaluated. If the doctor doesn't want to, then you need to find another. If you would like a fungal culture, it's your dime. Again, if the doctor refuses, then find another. Some times a microscopic exam is substituted. Hopefully, Healthtap can give you the level of service you expect.
