Dependence?: there is no evidence that marijuana leads to physical dependence but it can lead to psychological addiction especially in persons prone to addiction. Regular use may decrease motivation and interest in productive activities. It may also cause psychosis in some people and may exacerbate depression

Controversial topic: Other addictions differ. You don't need more over time to get the same effect and there are no physical w/drawal symptoms. But, it DOES have psychological and behavioral effects of dependence. Thinking about it too much, having it take up many hours of your life and guide decisions. Feeling negatively when you can't use it. Read: http://alcoholism.about.com/od/pot/a/pot_addiction.htm Best!
