Not sure: Does this coloration run in your family? If so, there is not much you can do. You could try a lightening cream such as hydroxyquinone if available in the UK. Is it hair? then use a depilidatory (hair remover). If it is new, and if you are overweight or have diabetes in your family, or any difficulties with your periods, you should see a doctor.

Dark skin: Dark skin in skin creases could be genetic, due to sun, or due to an underlying immune issue (like Lupus: which is unlikely but possible. See MD to be sure no other signs of Lupus. Otherwise keep out of sun (hat, sunscreen), avoid doxycycline pills, and use make up if needed
