Depends.: First off, penile yeast infections are not common. While it is common to get "jock itch", or yeast infection affecting the scrotum and inner thighs, the penis is rarely affected. If it is a yeast infection, it should be substantially better after a week of lotrimin (clotrimazole). However get a doc to look at the rash - it does not sound like yeast to me.

If : Diagnosis was correct the treatment should be effective but it may take time. I would however examine and treat ur steady partner as there is the chance of having what is called a ping-pong infection. What did your doctor tell you about this? I would certainly consider it. Lastly i would abstain for sexual activity for a while...

Are you sure?: Why do think you have a penile yeast infection? Usually when a 19 yo male thinks he has one, he has an std. Make sure a doctor diagnosis this. Just a heads up. But that's what you have lotrimin (clotrimazole) should work within a couple weeks. Treat for at least 4 weeks.

At LEAST 7-10 days..: ..If circumcised. If uncircumcised, may take even longer. The warm/moist environment makes it difficult to eradicate. Without getting arrested, "free time" (with "enhanced air flow to genitals") will help eradicate it quicker due to cooler / dryer environment.

Candida is usual: Yeast infective agent & lotrimin (clotrimazole) works well against it.. Wash affected area gently (antifungal shampoo sometimes speeds healing); dry thoroughly; apply lotrimin (clotrimazole). Sterilize underwear, bathtowels, pajamas, bed linens (if u sleep "commando") with hot soapy water to prevent reinfection. May take 2-3 weeks to resolve. Use lotrimin (clotrimazole) for at least another week to clear deep skin layers. Use condom.

Quickly: The medication in lotrimin (clotrimazole) is very effective for the treatment of yeast infections. You should start feeling better within a few days. Be sure to continue using it until you have been all clear for 3-4 days. Also, be sure your sexual partner is also treated. Otherwise you will catch it again. If you are not getting better, you may have the wrong diagnosis and will need to see your doctor.
