Typically NO.: During the first two months of pregnancy it is not uncommon to have light bleeding for a day or two at the times your period would be due. Heavy bleeding during pregnancy is not normal. This can be due to a threatened miscarriage, or a placenta prévia or other serious conditions. If you are pregnant and experiencing these symptoms, see your OB doc immediately.

Pregnancy: Periods stop if you are pregnant. Of course in the first few weeks there may be spotting or light bleeding as the fetus implants on the uterine wall. But a heavy "period' means you are not pregnant or you are miscarrying a fetus.
