Many possibilities.: Frequent menses can be caused by a structural problem in the uterus (polyp or fibroid for example). It can also be caused by a hormonal imbalance, pregnancy or perimenopause. The work up can be different depending on your age. If you are of child bearing age start with a pregnancy test. Treatment ranges from medication to surgery depending on the severity of the bleeding and the cause.
