Possible infection: Broken skin, pain, swelling and smelly discharge could mean a skin infection. If it doesn't settle in a few days, or the symptoms get worse, see a doctor

Infection: The broken skin allowed bacteria to find a portal causing an infection and thus the pain and odor. It may need to be seen by a MD and treated.
