Yes but...: A glucose meter can certainly give you information regarding your glucoses and be used to follow glucoses after diagnosis but it should not be used for the diagnosis of diabetes. The american diabetes association recommends the use of venous blood and a certified lab to check the a1c and glucose for diagnostic purposes.
