Most labs no.: it is a bit elevated. Stimulants to platelet growth are chronic inflammation/infection and just blood growth hormones (polycythemia vera, which is less common than the other causes mentioned). Mild diseases like viral infections are not a common cause and mostly there is an underlying disease that needs some attention.
