A member asked:

Im pregnant and have oral thrush. i have been prescribed nystatin but scared to take it as im within the first 13 weeks of pregnancy? what do i do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No documented: adverse reaction to the unborn child to date with use of oral Nystatin. Absorption after oral ingestion is very poor so unlikely to cross the placenta in a significant amount to pose a threat to baby. Discuss your concern with your prescribing physician if you like so that both of you can weigh the benefits of treatment with the theoretical risk of harm to your baby. www.healthtap.com/dr-nnebe
