If you haven't had: a reaction to that course of penicillin, you're unlikely to get one now. You could still get an allergic reaction next time you take it. Reactions can vary from skin rash to hives and even anaphylactic shock. If you had a suspected allergic reaction in the past, it's best to avoid antibiotics in the penicillin family unless no substitutes are available, which is rarely the case. Dr. Anne
