A member asked:

If adrenaline is a bronchodilator, why does it make people feel short of breath?

Dr. John Chiu answered

Different mechanism: Shortness of breath is a sensation and not always correlated to cardiac or lung function. Adrenaline works briefly on dilating the airways and is not enough to help people in an asthma attack. The shortness of breath sensation from adrenaline (for some people) is more from anxiety and/or hyperventilation.
