Depends: The reliability of the test increases as you become more pregnant. Typically, by the first day of your expected (missed) period, pregnancy hormone levels should be high enough to make the test positive. Tests CAN be taken early, (3-5 days) before your missed period, though negative tests during this time should be repeated after your expected period.

Early Pregnancy Test: may be accurate 4 days prior to a missed period or 7 to 10 days after ovulation. Many women use a regular pregnancy test after a period is missed.
