A member asked:

Why would radon be a treatment for cancer when it causes cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sole Availability: Radon was used as implantable needles made of gold to treat cancers in the past. The gold layer keeps the radon within, and filters out the Alpha and beta radiations, allowing the gamma rays to kill the cancer. This has now been replaced with newer artificial safer isotopes.
