Distance vs. time.: It's not so much a distance thing as a time thing. We would start to achieve cardiovascular and fat-burning benefit from running at least twenty minutes daily. Initially, you may not run too far in twenty minutes, but eventually that time and distance become easier. Then you'll start running for 25 minutes, then 30, and so on. Distance is dependent on your conditioning and running speed.
