Depression, Anxiety: I understand your distress of not getting improvement from Effexor (venlafaxine). Gabapentin is not an anxiolytic. It is anticonvulsant, and used for nerve pain. Effexor (venlafaxine) is medication for depression and anxiety. See a Psychiatrist for Diagnosis of depression and anxiety; discuss medications for anxiety-Ativan or Xanax, and medications for depression -SSRI or Wellbutrin, their benefits and side effects; Therapy

Possibly : Hi, gabapentin is a anticonvulsant medication that Doctor mostly use for neuropathic pain. It is not completely understood what its mechanism of action is however it is not in the benzodiazepine family or SSRI/SNRI family. It should not have reaction with those 2 medication. It is also well tolerated.
