A member asked:

I currently have the nexplanon implant in my arm.i was prescribed 500 mg of amoxicillin for strep throat. will this affect my birth control? how long?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably no effect: Since the hormones in Nexplanon bypass your gastrointestinal tract and are delivered directly through your arm into your circulation, oral antibiotics like amoxicillin are not likely to affect the contraceptive effectiveness of the subdermal implant.
