HSV1 blood test: Yes, a blood test can tell if you are infected with HSV1, the usual cause of oral herpes (cold sores). Alternatively, you can wait and see if you have another outbreak, and the sore can be tested for the virus. If you google "cold sore" or "oral herpes", you can find photos of typical outbreaks to help determine if that's what you have.

HSV-1 and 2 combo Igg test done. HSV-1 was negative. HSV-2 was positive at 1.22 index, so lab then did inhibition assay which showed <60% negative. So now is this considered a true negative or still ambiguous? No recent risk/exposure within 2 yrs.
