It affects the body: in a negative way with or without periods. Depending on what we are talking about - one or two standard drinks or half the bottle. I almost always assume that it is closer to the second choice when people ask these questions. Alcohol increases bleeding by effects on platelets and coagulation factors, even in low doses, and probably is not a benefit. Safe drinking limit is 1/day (7/week)in women
