A member asked:

What does it mean if my tsh 3rd generation is 5.51 and my free t4 is .8? do i have a thyroid problem?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Your thyroid gland is under-active and you should follow your doctor's advice in taking thyroid medication to maintain health. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex.
