A member asked:

I had to wait 2 days after my old bc pack ended to get on a new bc. but i had sex before i knew my insurance quit covering it. pregnancy risk?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sounds confusing...: Birth control pills work the same way regardless of who pays for them (insurance company pays or you pay). If missing the first 2 pills of a new pack, there is an increased chance (but still a very small chance) of pregnancy that month. If worried, and if the regular withdrawal period doesn't come, one can do a home urine pregnancy test when starting next month's pack of pills.
