Sure: When the immune system sees a new infection it stimulates the production of memory antibodies specific to, that organism. The next time the body gets infected these memory antibodies are immediately present inactivating the agent. The common cold virus however frequently changes so that the memory antibodies may not recognize it which causes an infection.
