A member asked:

Dear doctors, what will happen to our eyes, when we forcibly stare at a bright source of light? does it cause any damage to the eye?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Usually nothing: Most light sources (except the sun and lasers) are not sufficiently intense to do any damage. You of course will find staring at bright light to be uncomfortable, but your pupils will get automatically smaller and the retina involuntarily moves in little rapid motions which minimize the intensity for any one point.
