MY ACHIN' HEAD: It sounds like you may have an inflamed lymph node, called a "Reactive" lymph node. We have many lymph nodes in our scalp, including in the vicinity of our ears. They can be quite painful but they are a sign of a healthy immune system. They tend to go away after several days, and can be treated with anti-inflammatory medications and warm compresses. If they persist, follow up with your doctor.
