Check pregnancy test: First and foremost CHECK A PREGNANCY TEST. While you can't have a normal menstrual cycle if pregnant you can have vaginal bleeding in early pregnancy that can be mistaken for a period. This may be more common in women who have been on BCP's but not taking them correctly. There are of course other reasons for nausea. When taken properly, oral contraceptives are a very effective form of contraception. Although the perfect-use failure rate is 0.1 percent, the typical-use failure rate is 8 percent, due primarily to missed pills.
