Side effect?: If you are on Birth Control pills and not having periods, this is not a bad thing. Its ok not to have periods in this setting. If it bothers you, you need to switch to a different contraceptive pill. If this is the first time this has happened to you, its a good idea to get a pregnancy test as its still possible to get pregnant on the pill. The risk is about 5% per year. Best wishes!

Pregnancy test: A woman who is sexually active, is on hormonal birth control, and missed her period should take a pregnancy test. If positive, sign up for prenatal care as soon as possible. If negative, she should know that some women on hormonal birth control pills may not have a menstrual period and there is no need to induce a menstrual period.
