Yes and no: This depends on what you mean by "common". Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) is a sulfa drug, and sulfas are among the most common causes of allergic drug rash. OTOH, the large majority of people who take Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) are not allergic and don't develop rash. If you are taking the drug and have a rash, contact the doctor who prescribed it and follow his or her advice. You may need a different antibiotic. Good luck!
