See DDS, gingivitis: If you have a persistent ache in your lower gums, it may be a sign that you are at risk for or already have gum infection. Gingivitis is a serious problem, which should be checked by a dentist. Do not delay and call your DDS for exam and treatment.

Many: Tooth fracture or abscess, gum disease, parafunctional habits, malocclusion, change in diet or Meds/supplements, traumatic oral hygiene technique, allergies, systemic disease, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and so many other possibilities with gum disease at the top of the list. Please see your Dentist as soon as possible to solve your conundrum.
