Will my insurance cover flood damage or tsunami damage?

Need flood Insurance: Because standard homeowner’s insurance doesn’t cover flooding, it’s important to have protection from the floods associated with hurricanes, tropical storms, and heavy rains. For information on flood insurance, please visit the National Flood Insurance Program Web site at www.FloodSmart.gov.

What does your: specific policy state? Most people have to buy flood insurance in addition to a standard policy. National Flood Insurance Program – Standard Flood Insurance Policy is likely to cover damage from extreme tidal action. However, if the damage is caused by movement of earth (even if caused by water) that may not be covered. Please talk with your insurance agency.
