Hello, i have had a cold the last few days and as of yesterday i get splitting pain on the very top -front part of my head during a coughing spell.

Headache : When you cough you can set off a pressure wave in your spinal fluid. Think of the circus game where you hit the bar at the bottom and the weight rises to hit the bell at the top. Cough hard enough and the pressure wave will rise up to your head and give you a "Klop!"
