DVT?: Purple lines sound like varicose veins. However, if there is a sudden increase in them and pain, I would recommend and ultrasound to evaluate for deep venous thrombosis (DVT), or blood clot. An alternative explanation might be superficial thrombophlebitis or chronic venous insufficiency.
