A member asked:

I know a colleague who is 60 years old and still uses cocaine from time to time. hes also a type 2 diabetic. isnt this extremely dangerous?

Very dangerous!!: We know that diabetes causes heart diseases. And we see that this colleague is of age for heart disease. And we also know that cocaine both accelerates the development of blockages in arteries but also can cause coronary artery vasospasm while using. So this individual is a tremendous risk for heart attack and sudden death.

Cocaine is: dangerous, as is Type II diabetes. Put them together and you have the perfect storm for lots more problems. Type II diabetes is a disorder of lifestyle and can be reversed w/work. Please be supportive w/out preaching to your friend. He may want to start w/seeing his doc or a nutritionist. Once he begins to feel improvement or see it in lab results it may motivate him to deal w/cocaine. Peace
