my 5 year old son wakes up itching all over his body ans whereever he itches, skin becomes red there. happening since last 2 mornings?

Itch begets itch: Your 5 year old son has sensitive skin and might be dry. There is a term called dermatographism when you turn red in the areas that you scratch. This redness looks like hives. There is no known cause, but sometimes heat makes it worse and antihistamines help. Cool refrigerated moisturizers always help too.

? Acute urticaria: Or just dry skin during winter, common. Bathe him with a cream soap before he goes to bed, pat his skin dry, apply a moisturizer right away to trap the moisture, and use OTC children's antihistaminic, read the labels carefully for proper dosing, if no improvement, see his doctor
