A member asked:

Pregnant exposed to hepb 1week before birth, baby gets hbv vaccine before 12hrs but no immunoglobulin, can it be protective for hepb? at what level?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes it can. Unknown.: Life is not exact, and that's the way it is. First, hope Mom is immune (by vaccine or prior disease). Did Mom get a HepB gammaglobulin shot? Second, hope not enough viruses were transmitted to Mom in the exposure. Third, hope that 1 week was not enough time for viral count in Mom to get high enough to be contagious to Baby. Fourth, hope that Baby's vaccine prevents an infection (it should work).
