Take with food: The maximum recommended dose of ibuprofen in 2400mg in a 24 hour period. We routinely prescribe motrin 800 mg three times a day for pain. Unfortunately, ibuprofen (along with other NSAIDS--aspirin and naproxen) can irritate and upset your stomach. It is always a good idea to take NSAIDS with food.
