I'm afraid not: A period is your uterus shedding its inner lining. The amount and duration of bleeding depends on the thickness of that lining which is by now established, and starting birth control at this point is unlikely to stop or shorten the period. An exception would be in the case of abnormal bleeding going on longer than expected, but that's not what it sounds like you're describing.
