A member asked:

Hi my daughter is 4 months old she's been fighting a virus for more that two week now and she's also got a eye infection but it don't seem to be going?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Superinfection: Colds, or upper respiratory infections, are most commonly cause by viral infections which resolve on their own in 3-7 days. Viral infections do NOT respond to antibiotics. However, when your immune system is taxed by fighting the viral infection, bacterial infections can set in. Symptoms that do not improve within a few days, worsening symptoms, new fever or chest pain warrants a doctor visit.
