Leg "twitching": There are a number of possible reasons for this including irritability of the common peroneal or common fibular nerve at the knee. The CPN / CFN nerve is commonly entrapped or compressed as it wraps around the head of the fibula and this possibility is frequently overlooked by most physicians who aren't familiar with the problem. You may need a nerve conduction / electromyogram. (www.aens.us)

Benign fasciculation: If you're not having other issues such as weakness, changes in sensation, shooting/pins/needles/burning pain of foot or leg, or muscle bulk loss , this is likely benign muscle fasciculations, (such as the random recurrent twitching in the eyelid that people can experience). Not unusual to happen in bouts lasting days or several weeks.
