Colonoscopy: These days, colonoscopy is a very safe procedure. Colon perforation occurs in only 0.05% of the procedures, on average. Although it is possible to undergo a colonoscopy without sedation, it can be uncomfortable in that setting, and I don't recommend trying it. The sedation is very safe and easy. If your doctor think you may have Crohn's disease, you should not skip the procedure. Good luck.
