Won't work right: Mucinex 600mg has only guaifenesin in it, but is an extended release tablet. If crushed up, a person will get a big dose at the time the tablet is taken, but its effects will likely wear off before the 12 hours is up. One might be able to mimic more normal tablet effects if one took a crushed HALF-tablet every 6 hours instead of a crushed full tablet every 12 hours... but that's just a guess.

No: Mucinex (guaifenesin) 600 mg is a long-acting form and must should be swallowed whole; it mustn’t chewed, broken, or crushed, as that will lead to an immediate dumping of the entire dose (too high of one) that is meant to be released slowly into your system over a series of hours.
