2 infections: Infection causing the bald patches is usually fungal. The malodorous infection of the beard is probably a distinct bacterial infection that may or may not originate within the hair follicles. Both are treatable. Would discuss with you primary physician or visit a nearby urgent care center

Fungal infection.: You are describing a fungal infection of the hair follicles and adjacent skin in your beard. This is treated with anti fungal medication. Hi doctors..dermatology question. I have seborrheic dermatitis. Is it safe to use something like Selsun Blue or TGel/TSal directly on my scalp..I am virtually bald, with no hair to act as a buffer. Sometimes causes mild irritation. Anything better?
